THE HOUSE PROJECT

H Project Space is very pleased to announce a collaborative project/installation by lecturers and students from the School of Architecture and Design of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

Inspired by an extraordinary vernacular dwelling discovered off Satham Road in Bangkok, The House Project seeks to examine this building’s exemplary value; a value necessarily hidden from the comfort of most of our privileged lives. Further, The House Project will redefine art and design as research, inviting us to challenge our assumptions and allowing the house and its maker to become manifest, alongside our own tentative responses.

Urban shack or blueprint for rethinking urban regeneration; a talisman for reflecting on the ways we live our lives; hero or victim? Employing the resources of drawing, photography, collage, montage, CAD modeling, creative writing and found objects, the artists in The House Project look at architectural dwelling-as-palimpsest, in search of insights and extending an invitation for visitors to engage with simultaneous meanings and the various modes that enable signification.
