UNEXPECTATION/REALITY

Pasut Kranrattanasuit is a sculptor interested in the experiences of diverse forms of interactivity. Concerned with both representing and registering experience, his objects and installations segue the personal and the collective. Kranrattansuit employs a variety of media including antique found objects and video.

Unexpectation/Reality is a video installation prompted by the disaster of the recent floods in Thailand, in 2011. A time-lapse animation that imagines H Project Space rushed with polluted water, three monitors are embedded in the space and emphasise illusionistic qualities while insisting on the drama within. Playing on the distancing effects of media representations of disaster, Unexpectation/Reality allows us to consider the stakes of such as the room in which we stand becomes engulfed.

Pasut Kranrattanasuit graduated in sculpture from Silpakorn University in Bangkok and with time spent in Italy and France. He was awarded a Royal Thai Government to complete a MA at Goldsmiths College in London.
